Forms of Writing: MAIN IDEA & A Reflection
Tips on Writing the Main Idea 💡:
After you have read and understood a book or a short text:
Think💭💭💭 about what your reading📚📚 has taught you.
Example:
This text is about saving lives through new technologies.
This story is about how Kate overcame her fear of lizards.
This text is about the importance of rainforests in the world.
This book is about the experiences of two brothers overcoming challenges to become successful.
Support your thought with quotations or examples from the reading that you just read.
“……………” (page _)
After that, relate it to your life/world/another text. Make some connections!!!⚖️🌎📖
How does it look in a written form... this is based on The Hare and the Tortoise story.
The main idea is that you should never judge someone by their looks. In the story, the Hare thought that the Tortoise would loose the race. This shows that the hare was full of false pride and didn’t think about his own weaknesses. I think one should not do that because one ends up making enemies rather than friends.
Another Topic-Writing a Reflection:
Pointers are as follows:
What is the reading (story/chapter/article/book) about?
Message of the chapter/article/book and how do you know (supportive evidence/examples). You can also make connections (self, another text, world).
Author’s Tone ( persuasive, assertive, fearful, playful, disappointed, encouraging, outraged, mournful, cheerful…) and language (emotional, descriptive, sensory). Give Examples and why do you think the author used them.
Questions Raised and Point of view presented.
Important parts (examples) and why do you think those are the important parts
